I was born in the UK and know it super well, so take it from an expert: there are so many incredible places in this country for romance! Don’t go to London like everyone else – take the path less traveled by and head to one of these secret spots!
You can choose your favorite and book straight from here. Easy!
I’ve split the post by area – just pick your preferred region below and head straight to the good stuff!
1. Secluded getaways in England
1.1 Secluded Detached Barn Conversion – Shropshire
Along the borders of the Shropshire hills and Wales in Oswestry, you’ll find this incredible barn conversion deep in the countryside. The most perfect spot for a remote getaway!
My favorite thing about this place is the deep connection to nature you’ll experience while you’re there. Bird watching, cycling, hiking, or just relaxing in the idyllic garden with your loved one – whatever your thing is, you can find the time for it here.
This is less than 2 hours from Hay on Wye, where the iconic literary festival takes place every year! Have a look at the festival and others here.
When it comes to remote getaways, this is as remote as it gets – book in advance, it’s a popular spot!
1.2 Netherdene Country House B&B – Lake District
Located deep in the Lake District (arguably one of the most beautiful areas in the UK), Netherdene B&B exudes rustic charm and a simple, romantic vibe.
If you’re into hiking, Scafell Pike isn’t far away, and the gorgeous town of Keswick is just a few minutes away.
Proper English breakfasts with local sausages, cozy beds, a warm welcome, and local tips to make your stay even better – what’s not to love?
Step outside of the B&B and you’ll find some of the gorgeous nature walks that the Lake District is famed for, and you can walk with your loved one through the trees. Sigh.
Book up or I’ll beat you to it!
1.3 Ribblesdale Pods – Horton in Ribblesdale
If you’re looking for a romantic glamping experience, staying in a private pod in the Yorkshire Dales is the perfect treat!
Each pod comes with its own private hot tub and a cute kitchenette. Plus, it’s pet-friendly!
Horton-in-Ribblesdale has 2 traditional country pubs with cozy fireplaces, hearty food, and cheap beer! It’s the ideal setting for a romantic adventure in the British countryside.
PRO TIP: I wouldn’t come to Ribblesdale Pods in the depths of Winter – the North Yorkshire Dales get pretty blustery! The best time to come is between February and October.
1.4 The Fairfax Arms – Gilling East
A traditional, atmospheric pub located in a tiny country village on the North Yorkshire Moors, you’d be mistaken for thinking this was just an average pub.
4-star accommodation with an open log fire, elegant bathrooms, peaceful surroundings, and a hearty English breakfast. What more could you want?
The biggest bonus is the location – it’s only a 30 minute drive to York despite being in the most picturesque English countryside! I don’t live too far from here, and it’s one of my favorite areas in the UK.
I highly recommend booking the Superior Suite, it’s perfect for couples and surprisingly big for SUCH a good price!
1.5 Wolds Away – Huggate
This outstanding place is honestly so beautiful! If you’re in need of complete privacy with stunning surroundings, this is the place for you.
Each lodge comes with its own hot tub, open-plan kitchen, and a little outdoor seating area for those magical, misty evenings.
My recommendation is to get the barbecue out! Bring your own groceries and make use of that outdoor space.
And even if you don’t fancy cooking, the Wolds Inn is just around the corner.
1.6 Kentisbury Grange – North Devon
A Victorian country house deep in rural Devon, this option provides a romantic restaurant with locally-sourced food, roll-top baths, idyllic surroundings, and an incredible wine selection to keep you going all night!
They also offer packages like a distillery tour, a honey farm experience, and even Land Rover tours so you’ll never be bored at Kentisbury Grange.
This area of the UK is surrounded by some of the most gorgeous beaches in the UK! Even if the weather is a little blustery, it’ll be a special experience. I recommend going to Broadsands Beach (map), it’s never too busy and it’s in a little alcove!
PRO TIP: Stay in Suite No.1 at the cottage, there’s an outdoor hot tub there to enjoy! It also offers a little more privacy than some of the other rooms.
1.7 Luxury romantic cottage – Northamptonshire
This GORGEOUS cottage in Clipston, Northamptonshire is like something out of a fairytale.
I am obsessed with the freestanding bathtub, the romantic decor, and eco-friendly design – it’s fully solar-powered!
If you’re a couple who likes to game, you’ll love the Xbox, traditional family board games, and free Disney+, Netflix, and Amazon Echo.
The best part? Step right outside and you’ll find yourself in the heart of the countryside, surrounded by quiet fields and woods. Plus they’ll leave you wine in the fridge! Win!
1.8 The Hide with Private Wood-Fired Hot Tub – Dorset
I ADORE this space – mostly because I’m a huge lover of fairy lights – and it’s just so magical.
Located right on a vineyard with stunning views and outdoor seating to enjoy the sunsets, The Hide also has a fire pit where you can BBQ to your heart’s content!
This is an incredible spot for the winter, as the frost will make it even more magical.
Honestly, 52 5-star reviews can’t be wrong! You’ll have the most romantic weekend for an excellent price. I highly recommend going at least once!
1.9 Treeopia – Worcestershire
If you love the idea of a weekend in a remote location where you can stargaze, soak in an outdoor hot tub, and become one with nature, Treeopia is the place to be.
Treehouses make for an astonishingly romantic getaway, and the ideal place to get away from city madness and the stress of life.
Although the treehouses are in the remote countryside, you’re not far from reality, and there are plenty of places to eat nearby if you don’t fancy BBQ.
I used to live close to Treeopia, and it’s SUCH a pretty area. Honestly, it’s hard to beat!
The treehouses here are adults-only, so leave the kids at home!
2. Remote getaways in Wales
2.1 One Cat Farm – Aberaeron
Run by a lovely couple who gave up London life for the peace and quiet of Welsh life, One Cat Farm in Ceredigion is truly the place where time slows down.

2.2 Lake Vyrnwy Hotel & Spa – Llanwddyn
This has got to be one of my FAVORITE remote spots on this list. I adore Wales, and the region around the majestic mountains is just unbeatable. I have so many treasured memories from this area!
Wales is famed for its gorgeous rural scenery, but Lake Vyrnwy takes the cake for being the most remote, most romantic spot to get away from it all!
A true hidden gem of the region, the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel & Spa is the ideal getaway for those looking to treat their loved one to the ultimate luxury.
Right up on the rolling hills of the Berwyn Mountains, expect incredible spa facilities, cozy log fires, a decking patio area with an incredible view, and some of the best locally-sourced food around.
2.3 Aberdunant Hall – Snowdonia National Park
A 17th century manor situated in the stunning Snowdonia Park, Aberdunant Hall is perfect for those who want fun activities to do during their remote romantic getaway.
Some of the activities you can do around here are jet-skiing, diving, windsurfing, rock climbing, hiking, and bird-watching – and there’s more where that came from!
People absolutely adore the restaurant here, reviewers rave about it!
PRO TIP: I highly recommend booking the Cabana Suite if you’re looking for romance! It’s a detached, alpine-style log cabin that’s totally private – and there’s a waterfall nearby!
2.4 Portmeirion Village & Castell Deudraeth – Gwynedd
Located on its own private peninsula overlooking the Dwyryd Estuary, this ICONIC spa hotel is an ideal getaway for those who want a dreamy escape from life.
The Italian-style Portmeirion Village, with its historic castles and structures, is such an idyllic, picturesque place – it’s like something out of a Disney fairytale, but in Wales!

A guest favorite on Airbnb, Owl’s Nest in Carmarthenshire is SO CUTE!!
Aside from having my favorite feature of all time – endless fairy lights – Owl’s Nest is also super secluded and private for a romantic getaway.

Hot tubs, free-standing baths, open views, your own sauna, super king-sized beds, eco-designed suites, underfloor heating, log burners – seriously, the list goes on!!
While it’s in a remote location, The Hideaway Experience is just 6 miles (9 km) away, so if you want to take a little day trip, there’s plenty nearby!

In a location famed for Aurora Borealis (the Northern Lights) and incredible meteor showers, this little fisherman’s cottage is the TOP remote spot for some lovin’!
It’s small, it’s cute – if you like simplicity in a place where you can just walk from the front door to the sea, this is ideal for you.
Do you love watersports? Come here to rent a rowing boat, get your jet ski on, or go diving and snorkeling in the sea! At the end of a relaxing, blustery day on the shore, you can turn on the fire pit and enjoy some wine with the Scottish sunset.

This detached cottage is in the TOP 1% of listings on Airbnb, so you know it’s awesome for your romantic holiday!
The secluded cottage has self check-in, an outdoor woodfire bath, and complete views of the ocean. The location is staggeringly beautiful!
The kitchen is always well-stocked, so as soon as you arrive you’ll have sustenance and a reason to kick back and relax!
It’s only 5 minutes’ drive from the nearest town, but it honestly doesn’t feel like it. And it’s perfect for winter, since there is underfloor heating and the cutest little wood burning stove so you can cozy up together!

4. Rural romantic getaways in the Isle of Wight
4.1 The Granary at French Mill – Sandford
This adorable little cottage is just begging for some romance!
Located in a small countryside hamlet just a short walk from the cutest donkey sanctuary, this pet-friendly property is the ideal place to get away from the madness with your other half.
Since it’s a converted granary, it’s very simple, but do you really need fancy when you have love?
The garden is my favorite thing about The Granary – it’s full of badgers, rabbits, frogs, moles, and the occasional endangered red squirrel, so if you’re into wildlife, you’ll adore this little place.
4.2 Luxury Yurts on the Garlic Farm – Sandown
The main reason I LOVE this place is because I’m obsessed with garlic – but more than that, it’s an organic farm, a luxury retreat, a farm shop, a restaurant and café, and surrounded by gorgeous countryside. What more do you need?
My husband is allergic to garlic so I could never bring him here, but I personally love it!! There’s also a little chicken coop and everything is so relaxing, you’ll feel like you’re in your own little slice of heaven.
Each yurt is complete with a living area, dining space, and kitchen. Outside, you’ll find your own hammock to enjoy the sounds of nature while you nap, and you can use the BBQ facilities in the evening.
This is an extraordinary form of glamping, and doing it on a farm setting makes it even more special for your romantic break with your loved one. Don’t miss out – book in advance!
4.3 Enchanted Manor – Niton
It’s all in the name! This magical, family-run B&B on the south coast of the Isle of Wight has a small population of endangered red squirrels!

Perfect for long, nostalgic walks and romantic moments, the Enchanted Manor will make you feel just that: enchanted ✨
4.4 Little Wing Peaceful Barn with Garden – Chillerton
Last but definitely not least, Little Wing Barn is in the top 10% of homes on Airbnb, so you’ll love it for sure!
Surrounded by barn owls in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this home was once a working shed for milking goats, and they’ve kept that rustic charm in the renovations.
The king size bed is HUGE in this place, and it’s so cozy you probably won’t want to leave. They’ll even leave little touches like fresh milk, cocktails, and a booklet listing all the surrounding pubs.
